The BBC's Catherine Hearne gave an interesting paper in Leeds last week on how the organisation plans to roll out a local news service online largely based around mapping news stories in this way to provide hyper local (multimedia) news. She said that the new 'BBC Local' service should be approved by the BBC trust later in the year. And another paper (by Andy Price) at the Cardiff MECCSA conference talked about Trinity Mirror's Middlesbrough Gazette's use of a more rudimentary form of post-code geo taging, too (http://www.gazettelive.co.uk/gazette-communities/).
