I&#039;ve also added the evidence you point out I don&#039;t provide: a Pew study that suggests people have wider and more diverse networks online than offline: http://www.pewinternet.org/Reports/2009/18--Social-Isolation-and-New-Technology.aspx?r=1
Although I should also point out that I&#039;m not arguing that the internet does not suffer from homophily, only that there&#039;s a different form of serendipity to that offered in print, and that is often overlooked.</description>
