One of the core principles underlying Help Me Investigate is finding a web-native way to pursue issues. Every medium has its own genres and conventions, and the web is no different - you can’t just shovel print or broadcast or campaigning content online. It’s interactive. It’s communicative.
The most successful sites on the web know that, and they use game mechanics.
Now I don’t mean they literally create a game - I mean they use elements that are familiar to us from games that we have played, from bowls to Pokemon, poker to Tetris.
Flickr uses game mechanics. Facebook and MySpace do. YouTube does.
The slideshows below by the excellent Amy Jo Kim show just how they do this - through collecting, points, feedback, exchanges and customisation - all elements that are built into Help Me Investigate. This isn’t trivialising investigation, just making it more immediately rewarding, more social, and more fun, which for me is a Pretty Good Thing.

I can recommend to come on a site on which there are many articles on this question.
